The story of Saudi Foundation Day: The beginning of glory and unity of a homeland

The Saudi founding day is a national occasion commemorating the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud on February 22, 1727, to be the beginning of a long march of unity and stability.

Why are we celebrating Foundation Day?

February 22 was approved as an official day to celebrate the founding day by royal decree from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 2022, in honour of the roots of the Saudi state, and to highlight its ancient historical heritage that extends for more than three centuries.

The founding day is not just a memory, but a symbol of unity, pride, and renaissance, embodying the sacrifices of ancestors and the construction process that has continued to this day, to be a witness to the Kingdom’s strength and leadership at the regional and international levels.
